錄音文稿：	Inner Mongolia Located in the north frontier of China, Inner Mongolia is a multiethnic autonomous region with a long history and glorious ancient culture. With a total area of 1.183 million square kilometers, the region has a relatively high altitude of about 1,000 meters on average. It is basically a plateau in topography. As the famous production base of animal husbandry in China, the region is celebrated for Sanhe horses, Sanhe cattle, prairie red bull, Wuzhumuxin goats, Aohan fine haired sheep, Erdos fine haired sheep, aerbasi goats, and other fine breed livestock. Meanwhile, as the important forest base of the country, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region ranks first in forest area in the country, with a total forest area of 20.8 million hectares, which accounts for 11% of China’s overall forest area. Inner Mongolia is the province in China that has the greatest number of newly discovered minerals, of which more than ten have been recognized internationally. The Baiyun Ebo mine in Baotou city is the largest mine of rare earth in the world. By 1997, the proved reserve of rare earth oxide accounts for 76% of the world’s total rare earth reserve. With 172 minerals, this mine is the one containing the largest number of minerals in the world. In 2011, Inner Mongolia registered a growth of 8%, 19% and 12% respectively in three sectors. Its grain output has set a new record for the second consecutive year. The per capita disposable income of urban residents in Baotou was 41,403 Yuan, while that for rural farmers and herdsmen was 20,059 Yuan. Due to the advantageous geographical location of Baotou, the mineral resources of the city is characterized by great varieties, tremendous reserves, high quality, concentrated distribution, and easy exploitation. The city is especially endowed richly with metal minerals, of which rare earth is not only the advantageous mineral of Baotou but also the gem of the country’s mineral resources. Baotou has the largest reserve of rare earth in the world, which is characterized by very high reserves, the high quality and low production cost. The reserve of rare earth in the city accounts for 91.6% of the country’s total reserve of rare earth and 54.2% of the world’s total prove reserves of rare earth. With an annual production capacity of five million tons of steel and 3.5 million tons of iron, Baotou Steel (Group) Company Limited can manufacture 55 categories of iron and steel products in 1,112 specifications, including heavy rail, large U-steel, seamless tubes, hot rolled sheet, band steel, welded pipe, high-speed wires, average speed wires, and bars. Since the beginning of the new century, Baotou Steel (Group) Company Limited has spared no effort in perfecting the four high-quality goods production line of sheet, tube, rail and wire and upgrading the products. The 2.6 million-ton hot-rolling sheet project went into operation in 2003. The one million-ton cold-rolling sheet project was initiated in August 2003. Inner Mongolia No. 1 Machinery Manufacturing (Group) Company Limited is actively involved in the manufacturing of civilian products, including railroad vehicles and corresponding spare parts, engineering machinery, petroleum machinery, metallurgical machinery, and special purpose vehicles. The company has also enjoyed favorable development in the fields of medium and heavy transmission equipment, high-tech mould, and mechatronics products. The railway tanks, plateau type bulldozers, the earth brand of sucker rod, and the bullet-proof armored cash carriers produced by the company are highly competitive in the market. In recent years, North Heavy Industry (Inner Mongolia) Group Corporation Limited has made significant achievements in the development of the four major civilian product series, including civilian special steel and processed products, retrofitted vehicles, equipment mechanics, and railway products. The company has set up its own processing plants in Madagascar of Africa and the United States, which are capable of processing about two million garments in a year. All these processed garments are all sold locally. Inner Mongolia Select Textile Group Company Limited specializes in textile and printing and dyeing. It has an annual production capacity of 1,000 tons of yarn, 65 million meters of clothes, 80 tons of spun cashmere yarn, and 550,000 pieces of cashmere underwear and capes. It earns 10 million U.S. dollars of foreign exchange every year. Baotou Sumengte Flax Textile Joint Venture Company Limited is the largest earner of foreign exchange in China’s flax processing industry (by the end of June 2005). It produces 3 million meters of flax linen and 10,000 articles of knitted flax sweater every year, which sells well Japan, the United States, Italy, Belgium, France and other countries. Northern Heavy-duty Vehicles Company Limited now manufactures 7 kinds of Terex vehicles, which range in loading capacity from 23 tons to 100 tons. These products are widely used in various domestic key projects and mine constructions, and are also exported to foreign counties in large numbers. They have won very good reputations. In 2003, Northern Heavy-duty Vehicles Company Limited reached cooperation agreement with Germany’s Terex-Atlas company and founded Atlas Engineering Machinery Company Limited.
